Sometimes it's okay to have a professional help you as long as you have waited the appropriate amount of time (at least 7 months imo) and you take care of your ears (clean every day, put oil on every day, massage every day, and even playing with your jewelry helps). Unfortunately stretching your septum is an entirely different monster compared to stretching your lobes. I think it's pretty common to feel like you got punched in the nose for several days after. Warm compresses can offer some relief. You might want to also consider smaller jumps. 8g to 7g would be easier.
